Colorado Thunderbirds Welcome New Staff Members

The Colorado Thunderbirds are excited to welcome two new staff members, John Mitchell and Chase Engdahl. Read more about the pair below!

John Mitchell

Hockey Highlights:

  • 14 Years of professional hockey.
  • 9 years in the NHL.
  • 2 years playing in Germany.
  • Involved in many hockey camps including all age groups of kids from 5-18 years old.  
  • NHLPA Player rep. for the the Colorado Avalanche from 2014-2017.  
  • Part of the negotiations during the 2012-2013 lock out for the NHL.  
  • Currently on the board of the Avalanche Alumni which includes one event a month to help charities around the Denver area. 
  • Color analyst for the Colorado Avalanche on the radio for most of the home games this season.

Chase Engdahl, MS, CSCS

Chase’s extensive sports performance education and qualifications include attaining a master’s degree in Applied Exercise Science, holding his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification through the National Strength and Conditioning Association and previously completing his undergraduate studies in Kinesiology at Colorado Mesa University.  His practical experience and expertise primarily involve working with hockey players of all ages. In addition, Chase has been fortunate to learn from and work with some of the best players and staff in the NHL for the past two years. Chase is excited and thankful for the opportunity to share his passion for human performance with everyone involved in the Colorado Thunderbirds organization.
