It’s always exciting to see T1EHL players move up in the ranks of hockey. Jake Johnson, T1EHL alum and former player with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes, was recently featured in the WHL Next Generation series.
WHL Next Generation is a 22-part series highlighting a handful of the future stares of the Western Hockey League. You can get the latest scoop from August 1 through August 31 on the incoming rookie class of 2019-2020.
Johnson saw newly gained maturity translate to his performance this past season with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes U15 team. In 24 regular-season games, he recorded 17 points (3G-14A), leading his team in defensive scoring. Additionally, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound blueliner was also appointed captain for the season.
“I got a lot of confidence this year being the captain and the leader of my team,” Johnson said. “I was put on the ice for a lot of situations this year, so I was able to prepare myself for next year in the WHL when things get tougher.”
Johnson will be playing with the Regina Pats in the WHL this season. This article originally appeared on the Western Hockey League website. You can read the full story here: http://bit.ly/2MyS89r
